Emma Shave Speech and Language Therapist

Emma Shave

Assessment Team

Emma is an experienced (Highly Specialist) Speech and Language Therapist who has worked for NHS Trusts in Sussex, Lewisham and Kent, as well as private specialist provisions and private practice.

Emma has over 16 years of experience working with autistic and neurodiverse children and young people including those with social communication, complex communication or developmental needs.

Emma specialises in carrying out diagnostic autism assessments including identifying appropriate and supportive diagnoses for those young people who have more complex presentations and providing a second opinion when initial assessment needs clarification. She believes that diagnosis should be a positive experience where strengths are recognised alongside challenges and that the process can be a useful way to support individuals.

In her therapy approach, Emma aims to be neuro-affirmative and child-led. She uses a coaching approach that supports natural development and helps each child reach their potential. She is trained in working with Gestalt Language Processors and is experienced in supporting children and young people who present with anxiety and sensory differences.
